The brief
A human-centred process, end to end
Every stage was hands-on and built around the people using the product: discover, define, ideate, prototype and test, then loop back with what we learned. We planned the work as an eight-week sprint from kick-off to user testing.

45 hours of listening first
Before designing anything, we spoke to Castrol’s customers and to the people inside Castrol who serve them.
From six segments: independent and franchise workshops, commercial vehicle oils, distributors, retail and mining.
From sales, customer operations, technical support, marketing and supply chain.
Qualitative interviews, from inside Castrol and from its customers.
Ranking what hurts most
We turned the research into a ranked list of customer problems. Stock visibility, labour shortages and supply topped it, and that list set the agenda for ideation.

Wireframes in front of users, fast
We wireframed the journeys customers valued most, turned them into low-fidelity prototypes and tested them with users. Their feedback drove several rounds of iteration.

One dashboard for the whole business
The result is a dashboard for monitoring live commerce. It combines real-time and historical data so the business can sharpen its strategy and improve agent performance, on desktop, tablet and phone.
